Bryce Canyon National Park Announces Local Hiring Authority

BRYCE, UT – Local residents now have increased opportunities to be hired at Bryce Canyon National Park, thanks to a special hiring authority (officially called a Contiguous to the Area Appointing Authority) obtained by the park’s management. The change allows Bryce Canyon to fill jobs with individuals living within the local commuting area to the park.

“Being able to utilize this local hiring authority will be a great benefit to the park and Garfield County residents as we work to fill critical needed positions,” says Superintendent Linda Mazzu.

This authority can be used to fill technical, maintenance, and clerical positions at or below grade GS-7 or WG-10 or equivalent (i.e. WL-8; WS-5), that have no known promotion potential. Applicants must reside within 50 miles of the park, and indicate their place of physical residence has been established for the past two years. Veteran’s preference applies to all hiring processes.

Advertisements will be posted in job service centers, the local newspaper, as well as online at https://www.nps.gov/brca/getinvolved/workwithus.htm. Applicants will still have to apply through USAJOBS website at https://www.usajobs.gov/.

Additional information can also be obtained by visiting the park’s website at www.nps.gov/brca, or by calling the park’s main information line at (435) 834-5322.
