Winter Activities Near Bryce Canyon

Choosing a Bryce Canyon winter getaway allows you to take advantage of low seasonal rates and practically no crowds. While the park remains open all year, the magic of Bryce Canyon winter offers a peaceful serenity found nowhere else on earth.

The Bryce Canyon Winter Festival has something for everyone. There will be Free clinics, demos and tours. Events may be subject to change due to snow and weather conditions, but the Bryce Canyon Winter Festival will be held regardless of snow conditions

Cross Country Skiing

Start your cross country ski adventure right from your guest room door!  Over 30 km of groomed trails wind through forests of Ponderosa pine, meadows and majestic overlooks,  offering guests one of the best ways to enjoy the peaceful scenery and fresh clean air of Bryce.  The canyon is especially beautiful in the winter and cross country skiing is permitted inside the park.

The Canyon 2 Canyon trail is perfect for year round use, available for cross country skiing and snowshoeing usage.

Ice skating

Experience a classic outdoor winter tradition on the ice. The Bryce Canyon Ice Ribbon is a time-proven favorite for families, couples, and visitors of all ages. Located right across the street from Ruby’s Inn at the Winter Activity Center, which is inside the Ebenezer’s Barn & Grill building, it features a smooth, continuous outdoor skating loop perfect for a crisp winter activity. 

Admission Pass: $7 per person, which includes ice skate rentals. Children ages 3 and under skate for free.

Bring Your Own Skates: You are welcome to bring your own pair, or use the rentals included with your pass.

Where to Buy Tickets: You can purchase your Ice Ribbon Access Pass in person at the Ruby's Inn Winter Activity Center, located inside the Ebenezer’s Barn & Grill building right across the street from the main lodge.

Operating Hours: Hours vary based on weather and ice conditions. Please check the Ruby's Inn Winter Activity Center Facebook Page before heading over for up-to-the-minute daily hours and surface updates.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing offers a unique way to connect with the beauty of  Bryce Canyon and the surrounding national forest. The solace of exploring the park in winter is a great activity for couples and families alike. Come escape the pressures of the hectic holiday season and experience the magic of the incredible winter scenery.

Ruby's Inn does not rent snowmobiles.

Bring your sled and experience the exciting snowmobile trails of Southern Utah. Maps and information are available Best Western Ruby's Inn Activities Center.

Trail Etiquette:
No motorized machines allowed on the East side of Main Street (Highway 63), winter trails.

All of the winter trails on the West side of Main Street (Highway 63) are shared trails, cross country skiing, fat tire bikes, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Please do not snowmobile on the cross country classical ski track. Please be courteous and share the winter trails.

East Fork Trails - Miles of trails and several play areas near Tropic Reservoir and the East Fork of the Sevier River. 40 miles of trails run through the picturesque Dixie National Forest to scenic plateaus and overviews of Bryce Canyon. Marked and non-groomed trails are also found north of Ruby's Inn, including trails in the Aquarius Plateau complex which climb along non-groomed Forest Service roads that offer spectacular vistas. Other nearby areas include Pine Lake and the Cedar Breaks areas. Click Here to learn more about trails within Garfield County that may be used for snowmobiling. Sleigh Rides

A sleigh ride to the rim of Bryce Canyon is the perfect way to enjoy the winter season!

Bundle up and relax as the horses whisk the covered sleigh across the fields of snow.  Great for all ages. No strenuous activity required.  Our regularly scheduled rides last approximately 30 minutes and run daily (dependent on current snow conditions).
